Drawings and paintings in this section were done over a 50 year period of time. Early drawings go back to 1965 when the artist was attending the Healtherley School of Fine Art in London. Heavily influenced by Degas, Sickert, Whistler, Pissaro and other impressionists— drawing and anatomy became the solid foundation for many of the figurative and landscape paintings that were to follow.
The majority of the drawings here represent pencil and charcoal drawings of people from locations in London, San Francisco, St. Paul and South Korea.
A primary interest in these posed model images was mostly the fluidity of line, balanced sometimes by an addition of ink wash or flat areas of tone.
